Ms Libby Rodgers-McPhee

In recognition of Exceptional Service to HMRI, we acknowledge Ms Libby Rodgers-McPhee.

For many years, one name was synonymous with HMRI’s reputation in the community. On 6 October 1997, pre-dating the incorporation of HMRI and the formation of the HMRI Foundation, Libby Rodgers-McPhee was appointed to the role of Development Manager. This was a role she held until September 2004.

Libby’s passion for her role was remarkable. She established the entire fundraising program from scratch, developing the successful model for the HMRI Ball as well as establishing the Top 200, which has become the backbone of HMRI’s corporate fundraising program.

Libby was the driving force behind the development of HMRI’s original branding and the recruitment of the HMRI Foundation, which first met on 14 January 1998.

Libby’s flair for events put HMRI on the social map. HMRI was officially launched at a Gala Dinner held at Newcastle City Hall on 2 June 1998 during National Medical Research Week, earning Libby the accolade of Highly Commended in the Special Events Category of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) Awards in December 1998.

The inaugural HMRI Ball, the Maitland Ball and Train, was held at Maitland Gaol was held on 10 March 1999. The event raised $90,000 and was subsequently awarded the National Award of Excellence in Fundraising, Special Events on 29 February 2000 by the Fundraising Institute of Australia

For her unbridled enthusiasm, her ability to engage others in the importance of research and her fundraising legacy, please join me in congratulating Ms Libby Rodgers-McPhee.
