14 Mar 2012

Sixteen Greater Building Society staff will swap their ties and heels for their best running attire as they gear up to participate in the run leg of the 2012 Sparke Helmore/NBN Television Triathlon Festival.

The Greater is sponsoring the 5km run leg of the event, to be held on the Friday evening, with all proceeds going to the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI).

The Greater team, fittingly named ‘The Greater Foreshore 5’, is made up of staff from a variety of departments, ranging in ages and fitness levels.

Greater CEO Don Magin hopes that other organisation’s sponsoring the event also encourage their staff to get involved.

“All of our staff are behind the Greater Team and it has fostered some great teamwork and team -spirit,” Mr Magin said.

“We invite our customers to come along, help cheer our team on and make a donation to support the great work done by HMRI,” he said.

The Sparke Helmore/NBN Television Triathlon Festival runs from Friday 16 until Sunday 18 March.

The Greater is a founding supporter of HMRI and currently supports vital research into Stroke with funds from the Greater Charitable Foundation.

The other events occurring over the three day festival includes the Newcastle Herald Wharf to Waves Harbour Swim, the NBN Tri Junior Triathlon and the Sparke Helmore Triathlon (long, short and super short).
