Cancer trials are research studies that test new and better ways of improving the health of people with cancer. They find out whether new and promising approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment are possible, safe and effective. Some trials look at ways of improving a person's quality of life. Cancer trials are the link between scientific discoveries made in the laboratory and making new treatments available for people with cancer.*
At HMRI we have two groups dedicated to cancer trials. They are the Australian New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group (ANZ BCTG) and the Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG). The areas in which trials are being conducted include breast, prostate, melanoma, ovarian and bowel cancer.
